Our Name

Translated from Latin the word AMICUS means “Friend”, however, in legal lexicon it is an integral part of the term “AMICUS CURIAE” which literally means “FRIEND of the COURT” and technically means
(i) A Counsel who assists a Court by putting arguments in support of an interest that might not be adequately represented by the parties to the proceedings or by arguing on behalf of a party who is otherwise unrepresented or

(ii) One that is not a party to a particular litigation but that is permitted by the Court to advise it in respect of some matter of law that directly affects the case in question. It is in the former context that inspires us to pick it as our name.
